Unlike generic assessments, Acuity mirrors the look and feel
of state exams. Educators can be assured that what they measure
today reflects their NCLB assessment blueprint.
Q: How is Acuity deployed to our district?
A: To maximize the success of Acuity™
in your district, the Acuity System includes a comprehensive
implementation model and support team. Educators will have
a dedicated implementation manager who will ensure schools
can get started quickly and smoothly. Finally, a Technical
Support team will be available to answer calls at no additional
cost.
Q: How can I be sure my student data is secure?
A: CTB/McGraw-Hill is a trusted leader in
assessment solutions with more than 80 years of experience
managing and maintaining secure test data. Acuity™ includes
a server that will be strategically located in the district
and within the district’s firewalls—so educators
remain in control of student data. This server is provided
at no additional cost and is configured and maintained by
CTB/McGraw-Hill engineers. In addition, Acuity is accessed
by administrators, teachers, and students who use a secure
Internet site protected by network security protocols, including
a unique username and password. CTB will ensure that your
student data is secure and agrees never to release it.
Q: Do I need to install anything on the computers
in my lab?
A: No additional technology is needed to
run the Acuity system, but a few common plug-ins are required
for the audio portion of Acuity.
Q: From a student’s perspective—how is
Acuity’s speed?
A: Because a server is provided that resides
within a given district’s firewalls, speed and performance
of Acuity is maximized and all users will enjoy fast response
times without impacting your district’s Internet speed
and connectivity.
Q: What is the impact of Acuity on my network’s
performance?
A: Acuity is designed to quickly and compatibly
integrate with existing technology and adheres to common network
protocols. Acuity is also designed to deliver large amounts
of student data without overloading your school or district
network.
Q: Does Acuity work on both PCs and Macs?
A: Acuity is a web-based product and works
on both Windows OS and Macintosh computers.
